Shanghai Climb----Lupu Bridge Sightseeing to be trial-open in April 28th
The sightseeing tour of Lupu Bridge will be trial-opened to public in April 28th, after the careful planning and readying by Shanghai Yangzi International Travel Agency, which is a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corp.

Similar to the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the Lupu Bridge also functions as a sightseeing attraction. But unlike the Nanpu Bridge and Yangpu Bridge (also in Shanghai and cross the same Huangpu River), the viewing platform of the Lupu Bridge is installed at the top of its giant-bow-like arch lib, which not only greatly enhance the viewing scope, but also enable sightseers to enjoy the 300-step-plus walk up the “slope” along the arch rib, making the experience more interesting and unforgetable.
Sightseers are to take the high-speed transparent elevator up to the main deck of the bridge, walk up the steps of the pathway along the arch rib—the back of this “giant-bow”-- for about 280 meters, reaching the viewing platform about the size of a basketball field at top of the 100-meter high arch rib, and taking in the breath-taking scenary of the Huangpu River.

Klaus Toepfer, former executive director of the United Nations Environment Program and UN Under-Secretary-General, went to LuPU bridge for Sightseeing with his retinues, the purpose of his trip to shanghai this time is to work with Shanghai's Tongji University as chief professor of environment and sustainable development, university officials announced yesterday. Toepfer will be required to work at Tongji for three to six months each year and is responsible for promoting the exchange between Tongji and universities and enterprises abroad.
